Visited Ocean Beach location. The burger was awesome! My daughter got the grilled chicken sandwich...she said it was so good she didn't realize it had ketchup and mayo (which she claims she doesn't like). Big steak fries with plenty of ranch to dip them in. Took my son to the restroom and he commented that it "smells good in here". Awesoem place all around; highly recommended.

I'm a trump supporter and I approve Hodads! An amazing restaurant good vibes and good food! I seriously recommend it to all my trump supporters! Plus I give it a five-star and I give it 10 Stars if I could! I brought my license plate in and they put up on the wall!

Fat burgers. I mean huge. I got the double and think it contributed to my high cholesterol reading today. Totally worth it. Good double IPA. Line outside took about ten min to get seated although I probably could have squeezed up to bar solo quicker. Under 99 billion sold, buy maybe not for much longer.

Best place to go eat in San Diego 😁😎😀. It is near the beach. The food is delicious, line or wait can be long. If you are in the area make sure go eat first before walking around. My family decided to celebrate my grandma's birthday to a restaurant, and we have chosen your restaurant, for you were known to serve customers nicely and have delicious food to eat. The place was nice, polished, and organized. We loved it so much, so we kept on visiting your restaurant. The foods also were yummy and taste better. See you again and again!

While visiting San Diego, we wanted to eat at a local joint rather than a national chain. After a quick on-line search, it appeared that Hodad's fit our requirements perfectly -- and we were rewarded with a great experience! The servers were very friendly as they explained the 1-page menu, which is perfect for a burger place. The restaurant is decorated gaudily (in a good way, considering its proximity to the beach) 🌊 and we enjoyed looking at all the old license plates and stickers plastered everywhere as well as the cut-off hippie van and the surfboards 🏄 hanging here and there.Best part, though, was the food! My wife had the Mini Bacon Hamburger w/ Onion Rings, which is actually not "mini" at all -- it's a solid size burger. I had the Single Cheeseburger w/ Onion Rings with bbq dipping sauce and it was plenty for my larger appetite. The Burgers come with "all the fixings" and were delicious -- quite possibly the best burgers that we have ever eaten!!!

Well run burger shop! The burgers are awesome, the fries are delicious, the shakes are worth every penny! The staff is fantastic! The music and ambience are stellar! I would highly recommend trying it out!

Heard all the hype and it did not disappoint. Delicious burgers. The only drawback was the number of flies flying around inside.

It’s a good burger. I had the bacon cheeseburger with the strawberry shake. Very big and super juicy. Almost too much. It got the bun wet and soggy in the 2 minutes it took for us to unwrap them. The shake was delicious and perfect consistency though.

This place rules. Awesome burgers and fries. No frills. Good price, awesome ranch dressing. Love it

Always great..basic fare but very tasty, serving huge portions. The ambiance is eclectic, the service fast and no frills. The entertainment comes from looking at all the passers-by...a varied collection of odd, interesting, weird characters. Hodads, an institution in San Diego!

Big burgers and big atmosphere! Music and people are ample. Rock-punk style restaurant and delicious sloppy burgers. The Blue Jay burger was my favorite. The onion rings are traditional non-beer battered and super crispy. Come hungry.

Great local place to visit for some incredible burgers (best in Ocean Beach), excellent service to boot. Bring your ear plugs, they play the music loud here! The place is popular, so expect a wait if you go during normal meal times.

A friend recommended Hodads, my kids are picky and they loved the food, shakes and the atmosphere as much as the wife and I did. Highly Recommend

One of the beat burgers of all time. If you like a good cheeseburger then this is it buddy. This thing is a beast. The fry and shakes are great also. Cant wait to go back to SD for. Hodad stop.

Friendly service. Food was mediocre at best, overpriced, and took too long. The burgers were very dry, the potato wedge "fries" were just alright. The Vanilla malt was good. I don't know why this place is famous. Five Guys is infinitely better. Heck, even In-N-Out is better, that's saying something

This is one of my husband and I favorite places to go then take a walk along the beach. Granted we can't take our normal walk. My pregnancy cravings took us to Hodads. However, this time we were surprised that our normal order was now over twice the price normally paid. That is for takeout none the less. I am honestly shocked that you would chose now to double almost triple your prices. Let's not even talk about the fact that it took almost an hour for two burgers and a fring. Makes me sad that a once favorite place is no more.

If you like burgers this is the place. Had one of the blue cheese burgers. Best I ever had. Fries are fresh. Onion rings are great. Know wonder your 3rd generation. Quality quantity and fair price,. Definitely put on my places to have a great meal.

The burger's are amazing and so are the onion rings. Very friendly staff as well. Highly recommend Hodad's if your in the area of OB or Hodad's Downtown on Broadway. It's a bit difficult for parking though street parking only.

Finally made it to Hoodads. Been trying to find a time when the line was short and yesterday was it. Did NOT disappoint! I had the Guido and it was awesome, next I'm going classic with a simple bacon cheeseburger, can't wait! Seems like a late lunch is the best time to sneak in without much of a wait. Give it a shot you won't regret it!

Nick the waiter is a joke. They forgot to put our order in, I told him I was allergic to onion. I won’t die but I break out in hives which is honestly not as annoying as this customer service. We waited 45 min for them to realize they never put the order in. When they tried to correct the mistake they gave us the wrong order loaded with onions and it was still incomplete. I ended up just giving them the order back and asking for a refund.

Always a great experience here. Generous portions of delicious food. Got the double cheeseburger. I recommend getting the onions on the side or it makes the burger too tall to bite (a tasty inconvenience) but you will love it either way. The fries, onion rings and strawberry malt were all huge and delicious as well. Atmosphere is cool too and close to the beach for a post feeding walk.

The place was busy with a line outside but service was quick. The burgers felt like just another burger place but it was a big burger. I got the 'single patty' burger which ended up being stuffed with your typical tomatoes, lettuce, pickles and onions. I had onion rings also which was pretty good. The batter was crispy and crunchy. Great place to go if your hungry minus the line.

* Best staff in Ocean Beach * The burgers are out of this world. The beer brewed at Hodad's is quality (try the DIPA) and the fries are addictive. Merch is cool and the atmosphere is awesome. Music is on point.

This is seriously one of my MUST go to places when I am in San Diego! I always feel like I need to get rolled out of the place though. My order of rings and fries is a half order and I would never be able to finish. The strawberry shake is AMAZING and when yo go, don’t even think twice about it, just order it. Then there is the burger! The one in the photo is a single bacon cheese and it is mouthwatering good! I just finished and if I could fit another one in, I would!The atmosphere there is great and I love the setting right by the beach. Try it out and let me know what you think!

The best hole in the restaurant in town. Exceptional service, friendly staff, comfortable and stylistic decor. OMG!!! The burgers set the tone for tastiness and fill you up goodness. What a great dinning experience. A must visit when in town.

Found this place through a friend back in 2007 and have been coming here since. Yep it's that good. Don't take my word for it must try it

This busy burger joint is an icon! The good is reasonly priced, greasy, and delicious. Don't be discouraged by the long line, it moves quickly! This place is the epitome of a divey beach bar! Definitely worth checking out if you're in Ocean Beach. Note: they play a lot of punk music!

To me their shakes, onion rings, and fries are the highlight. My husband on the other hand loves their burgers! I found out about this place from guy's diners, drive ins, and dives. Being new to San diego we wanted to try it out. The wait can be pretty long, so be prepared. But other then that the service is good, both times we've gone they are very welcoming and great on conversation. I say ita worth the try if you want to go some where new. I love the environment too.

We took our double burgers to go and they were AMAZING...definitely a good burger place that's a must try. Burgers are everywhere, but Hodad's makes a mean burger with great toppings.

The burgers were nothing special. They were good, but so is any burger with lettuce tomato onions and condiments lol. They didn't do anything different than a burger you grill at a home BBQ party. We ordered quick so perhaps there were better crazy burgers on the menu. Our table was a cute little car, I loved it as it was our first time there and I never knew it was even in there!

I come here every once in a while. There’s often a wait but it isn’t usually long. The burgers are huge! They are very juicy and pretty good overall. The fries are good, but aren’t really my thing—they’re more potato wedges than fries. The atmosphere is cool, very surfer/skater vibe. There’s half of a Volkswagen bus in the restaurant that you can sit in, surfboards and skateboards on the walls, stickers everywhere. It’s worth visiting and you’ll likely come back.
